John Furr (1752-1857) is probably buried here. According to Mrs. John F. Malinda Sides Herrin, her Sides relatives said John Furr had a nice tombstone but someone vandalized it. The family decided not to buy Catherine one for fear it would be vandalized. |

Heinrich Furrer |
According to Rev. Albright, Heinrich Furrer "is
buried in a family graveyard near Dutch Buffalo Creek on the North side,
close to the Teeter bridge." The graveyard is in |
Also According to Rev. Albright, "His grave is marked with a natural flat granite stone about three feet long, on which has been scratched the date '1777' or '1779.' It is difficult to tell whether the last figure is a seven or a nine. . . . Lewis Furr, a great-grandson of Paul Furr I, says his Uncle Moses Furr told him that the above-named grave is that of the father of Paul Furr I. So I believe this is without a reasonable doubt the burial place of Henry Furr I, and also of his wife, as there is another grave along by the side of his which is marked by a smaller stone on which are some figures which are not intelligible. Also since there were some fifteen or more graves once marked here, I think it is most probably that others of the early generation of the Furrs are buried here." According to Mae Elizabeth Herrin Perry, Heinrich Furrer's cabin was built by the west side of Buffalo Creek with the graveyard next to it. In 1762, Buffalo Creek was probably a small creek. Water flooded the cabin and graveyard. The second graveyard was made on the east side of the creek upon a hill and is called the John Furr graveyard. She believes John Furr and his wife, Catherine, are buried there. |
